On the today’s meeting the town Ozalj agreed on cooperation with the orienteering club Vihor, which will be the organizer of a new major orienteering competition in Croatia. Next year, from June 13 to 15, 2025, the Alpe Jadran orienteering cup will be held in Croatia, where more than 400 competitors from approximately fifteen regions of the Alpe Adria group are expected. Competitors from Styria, Bavaria, Carinthia, Trentino, Venice, Veneto, Ticino, Slovenia, Zala, Somogy, Baranja, Vasa, Croatia and other regions and countries from the surrounding area and beyond are expected at the three-day competition.

The competition will begin with a relay race and an accompanying race in Zagreb on June 13, and on June 14,  two competitions on the same day will be held in the Ozalj area. Middle distance will be organized in the morning, and a sprint competition will be in the afternoon. On Sunday, June 15, the long-distance World Ranking Event  will take place in Vukšin Šipak, where after all the competitions, the best regions of the Alps-Adria region will be announced. This year at the competition in Austria, the winner was Styria ahead of Ticino and Croatia in excellent third place. The city of Ozalj will support the organizers in their efforts to bring orienteering to another new location in Croatia. A very constructive meeting that lasted over two hours brought new ideas and possibilities in the organization of both competitions, so a nice competition is definitely expected on new challenging maps for orienteering. In front of the City of Ozalj, the OK Vihor delegation consisting of Mrs. Ivana Gobec as the main cartographer and Mr. Damir Gobec as the main organizer of the competition were welcomed by the mayor, Mrs. Lidija Bošnjak with the head of the single administrative department, Mrs. Suzanne Bakala, and the senior officer for communal affairs, Mr. Gordan Žiža. Ivana Gobec and Damir Gobec presented the project for the organization of the competition itself and the approximate area where the races will be held in the Ozalj area. The town of Ozalj will be an attraction for all competitors with its unique look and nature, as well as its beautiful surroundings, along with the river Kupa. The competition is open to all interested runners, and the program also includes a special OPEN category for those who want to try orienteering for the first time.

Registrations are open from October 1 for the relay competition with accompanying race (Friday, June 13), for the two-day competition of the Alpe Adria Cup, i.e. the 25th edition of the Zagreb Open Championship (medium and long-distance forest races on the 14th and 15th of June) and separately for the sprint competition in Ozalj.
